EDUCATION

Teaching English and supporting young learners

Star School | Faridabad, India | September–November 2010

The work

I volunteered at Star School in Faridabad, India, teaching English and supporting elementary-aged students in their learning.

My approach

My role centered on explaining material clearly and offering additional support when students needed it. Working in a different educational environment required patience, flexibility, and an openness to learning from the students and people around me.

What I learned

Effective communication depends on understanding the person you are trying to reach. A message can be accurate and still fail to help if it is not accessible to its audience.

What I bring forward

That lesson continues to shape how I approach education, communications, and operational work: listen, explain clearly, and adapt your approach when something is not understood.
